Salt Springs Alliance sponsored the Paddler's Environmental Toolkit Training class provided by the Florida Paddling Trails Association. The class was held at the CSO headquarters on Old Post Road, and our instuctor was Hank Brooks. Nineteen people attended the class and learned about Florida's environment and ecosystems, native and endangered species, how to recognize problems in the environment, and lots more. After the class we had lunch - turkey noodle soup compliments of the CSO and Ed Caum, and banana nut bread which was brought by several members. Following lunch there was a kayak outing to Salt Spring and Cauldron Spring to put our new knowledge to the test. Due to the size of the class, we had to split into two groups for the afternoon paddle.
