Ranger Gorgon O'Connor, who served Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park from 2001 until 2012, was honored today with the dedication of a native garden at the main entrance to the park. The garden was planted by members of the Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society - an organization that Gorgon served along with the Florida State Parks. A plaque commemmorating her service was placed in the park by the Salt Springs Alliance. A marker was also placed by the Florida Native Plant Society to remember Susan Beach Vaughn, a longstanding member of the Society and avid park volunteer.

The dedication ceremony was attended by over twenty people who came to show their appreciation for the work and commitment shown by Ranger Gorgon. In attendance were members of the Florida Native Plant Society, the Salt Springs Alliance, and a host of State Park staff - including most of the people who had the honor to work with Gorgon over the years.
