It was a great sunny day, but gusty winds out of the south. The "chute" that connects Salt Spring Run to Double Hammock Creek is a single file trip. So we warned people not to bunch up. One of our padlers turned over in the swift curent, and of course that caused a jam and it is surprising no more turned over. Almost everyone made it through, except our park manager Chris- who caught her glove on a branch and before she could react, she was in the water. On the other side of the pond, the current was running too strong to paddle into - so several paddlers had to get out and walk some kayaks ahead through the gap. A fisherman was anchored right next to the outlet and was suprised to see 40 kayakers come out of nowhere. There were plenty of other boats in the Westport Channel. We took a break before heading south into a steady wind from the south. Overall, everyone had a good time and look forward to our next trip.
